The History Center’s new summer camps explore Pittsburgh history in engaging and hands-on activities for elementary students. Become a time traveler, Imagineer, or history detective this summer!

Time Travelers

Audience: Youth who have just completed 1st or 2nd grade
When: Session 1: Week of June 26, 9 – 11:30 a.m. | Session 2: Week of Aug. 7, 12:30 – 3 p.m.
Cost: $175 | $150 for History Center members

Join us as we travel back in time to explore Pittsburgh’s past! History comes to life through cooking, art, sports, and stories of innovation. Time travelers will enjoy hands-on sessions throughout the History Center and create pieces of history to take home with them.

Pittsburgh Imagineers

Audience: Youth who have just completed 3rd or 4th grade
When: Session 1: Week of July 10, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. | Session 2: Week of July 24, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Cost: $225 | $200 for History Center members

Let your imagination soar and engineer it down to the earth! Explore the steps of Imagineering, an approach created by Alcoa in 1942, through Pittsburgh history and interactive activities. Become an Imagineer and put the process into practice by completing an Imagineering Design Challenge!

Pittsburgh’s History Detectives

Audience: Youth who have just completed 5th or 6th grade
When: Session 1: Week of July 17, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. | Session 2: Week of July 31, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Cost: $225 | $200 for History Center members

Dig in to Pittsburgh’s past and become a history detective! Explore the tools that history detectives use to investigate the past through interactive activities and exploring the city from the ground level. Become a history detective by investigating a Pittsburgh mystery and create a digital story to display your detective work.
