First Peoples: Archaeology at Meadowcroft Rockshelter

The First Peoples curriculum guides learners through an exploration of the at Meadowcroft Rockshelter using the interactive GigaPan images. The images can be used to teach about the archaeological process employed during the excavation, the evidence found of the natural and cultural history of the site, and the Rockshelter’s place in our understanding of prehistoric North America.

The Virtual Tour documents provide lesson plans for teaching each topic, and the Teacher Guides provide all the background information necessary to feel comfortable using the Rockshelter as a primary resource in the classroom.

This project was made possible through the generous support of the Claude Worthington Benedum Foundation.
