The Library & Archives provides access to thousands of photographs showcasing the 250 year history of Western Pennsylvania.
Photos are available through one of two partner Web sites:

Explore more than 800 photographs, each accompained by descriptive text that provides insight into the diverse history of our region.
The Web site also features 12 films shot by Bill Beal, a Pittsburgh filmmaker active from the 1940s through the 1990s. The films offer a unique glimpse into Pittsburgh's history as the city transformed itself through a variety of construction and redevelopment projects.
Historic Pittsburgh Image Collection
Three of Pittsburgh's most respected cultural and educational institutions - the Senator John Heinz History Center, the University of
Pittsburgh, and Carnegie Museum of Art - partnered to create the Historic Pittsburgh Image Collections.
Browse this online gateway of more than 10,500 images documenting Pittsburgh's past.
