Pull Up A Chair at the History Center

Pittsburgh, known for its many bridges, spirited sports fans, and friendly citizens, wants you to know just how welcomed you are here. There's a common love for all things Pittsburgh at the History Center, so when our friends at VisitPITTSBURGH launched their new "Pull Up a Chair" campaign, we decided it’s the perfect time to share some of our favorite Pittsburgh chairs on display in the museum.

Look for the Helpers: Mister Rogers & Officer Clemmons

In 2016, François Clemmons donated his Officer Clemmons jacket, shirt, and tie to the History Center collection. The History Center is proud to be the home of the “Mister Rogers’ Neighborhood” set in addition to other artifacts related to the television show, including one of his sweaters and a pair of sneakers, which have all become pop culture icons.

A Stamp on American Culture: Fred Rogers and Elvis Presley

Fred Rogers and Elvis Presley were part of the same generation, born only seven years apart (Fred Rogers in 1928 and Elvis Presley in 1935). They both began their careers in the mid-1950s. They are both now featured on a postage stamp from the U.S. Postal Service.
