Kick off Meadowcroft Rockshelter and Historic Village’s 56th season with a day of adventure, history, and hands-on exploration! Join us on Saturday, May 3, as we open for another season of discovery at this National Historic Landmark in Avella, Pa.

Step back in time and explore the Meadowcroft Rockshelter, a remarkable archaeological site where visitors can learn about life 19,000 years ago. Then, journey through the centuries at our interactive historic villages:

  • Try your hand at throwing an atlatl in the 16th-century Monongahela Indian Village.
  • Experience life on the frontier in an 18th-century log cabin and trading post.
  • Watch a blacksmith at work or take a seat in a 19th-century one-room schoolhouse.
