18th Century Forts

This homeschool program is for students in grades 4-6.

Students will learn information about the style and structure of 18th century forts and utilize the various models and images in the Fort Pitt Museum to build their own model with provided materials. At the conclusion of the class, students will test the strength of their models against “artillery rounds” during a quiz game based on information learned during class.

  • Students will learn the parts and functions of 18th century forts.
  • Students will discuss advantages and disadvantages of fort designs.
  • Students will design, build, and test their own 3D model of an 18th century fort using provided materials.

This session costs $10 per student. Each class must be registered for individually online. Multiple students may be registered for the same class as part of one registration. Please register online.
