The annual National History Day competition for students and teachers will take place on Saturday, March 19 at the History Center. Students participating in the performance and exhibition categories will compete in-person at the Heinz History Center, while students participating in the website, paper, and documentary categories will compete virtually.

The competition teaches skills of research, creativity, writing, editing, and critical thinking while encouraging the exploration of history in middle and high school students.

A non-profit education organization based in College Park, Maryland, National History Day (NHD) offers year-long academic programs that engage over half a million middle- and high-school students around the world annually in conducting and presenting original research on historical topics. Since 1974, NHD has continuously improved history education by providing professional development opportunities and curriculum materials for educators.

This event is for students and educators who have registered with NHD and is not open to the public.
