Week One: Destination Homewood – July 9
Explore stories about Homewood, create a piece of art using historic neighborhood images, and explore the block around the Hub!
Week Two: Destination Pittsburgh – July 16
Take an imaginary trip around the city to legendary places like Forbes Field, the Crawford Grill, the U.S. Steel Building, and Kennywood. Then tell some of your favorite Pittsburgh stories and build a brand-new contribution to Pittsburgh!
Week Three: Destination Pennsylvania – July 23
Pittsburgh’s stories don’t stop at the city limits! Design a ketchup bottle label at the H.J. Heinz Company’s glass factory in Sharpsburg, build a steamboat in Brownsville, and help make the horseshoe curve at Altoona so Pittsburgh products can go across the state!
Week Four: Destination United States of America – July 30
Explore how things made in Pittsburgh have been used all over the United States, like the steel for the St. Louis Arch and the glass for the Statue of Liberty! Be inspired by Pittsburgh born and raised Pop artists Andy Warhol and Burton Morris and create your own masterpiece!
Week Five: Destination Earth – August 6
Discover the amazing story of one of Pittsburgh’s most notable women, Nellie Bly, as she travelled around the world! Enjoy crafts and activities that match each of her global stops and explore Pittsburgh’s contributions to what she saw!
Week Six: Destination Moon – August 13
Help us make the final preparations for the “Destination Moon” exhibit! Explore Pittsburgh’s contributions to the moon landing, discover what life is like in outer space, and create Moon-inspired art!
