Samuel W Black, director of African American Program at the History Center:
This exhibition is a partnership with the New-York Historical Society. It wasn’t initially designed by the New-York Historical Society as a traveling exhibit. We approached them, told them about our interest in the exhibition. They made a few modifications so that it can travel with our input. So what we were able to do is put together an exhibition with New-York Historical Society material as well as Heinz History Center material.
In the end, we have something like 45-50% of the exhibition, especially the artifacts, coming from the Heinz History Center. So when people visit, they will actually see an exhibit that is infused with a lot of information about Western Pennsylvanians in Vietnam and affiliated with the Vietnam War.
