Step inside the Smithsonian’s home in Pittsburgh for a day of tricks, treats, and family-friendly activities on Sunday, Oct. 25.

Get your little ghouls, goblins, and ghosts dressed in their Halloween best because this year’s monster bash is going to be more spooktacular than ever!

The Steel City Ghostbusters are leading a Spooky Slime Lab, Grandpa Joe’s Candy Shop is setting up a complimentary classic candy bar, and the Bethany College Bone Lab will be on site to dig up some spine-tingling fun.

Join us at the Haunted History Center to:

  • Make spooky slime with the Steel City Ghostbusters and discover the scary science behind the goo before stretching it, squishing it, and taking it home.
  • Treat yourself to scary sweets from Grandpa Joe’s Candy Shop at a complimentary classic candy bar.
  • Dig in with the Bethany College Bone Lab and learn about the beasts (mastodons, saber-tooth tigers, and short-faced bears, oh my!)  that once roamed the region.
  • Hunt for spooky stories and odd objects during a Haunted Scavenger Hunt across all six floors of the museum.
  • Transform into a monster, ghoul, or ghost with fang-tastic face painting and temporary tattoos.
  • Peek into Pittsburgh’s peculiar past with eerie archival materials in the Detre Library & Archives.
  • Grab a spooky sip from The Coffin Bean & Co., a mobile coffee bar pulled by a hearse parked outside the museum.
  • Show off your moves at the Little Monster Mash and do the skeleton shuffle.
  • Come face-to-face with colossal creatures from the Ice Ages in our new exhibit, Planet Ice: Mysteries of the Ice Ages.

With tricks and treats around every corner, frightful fun awaits on each floor. Plus, little monsters can take home a free special-edition orange pickle pin while supplies last!
