Discover the story of a pivotal 1776 conference that brought Continental Congress representatives and Native leaders together at Fort Pitt.

Join Fort Pitt Museum Living History Coordinator Lukas Smith and DJ Huff, a member of the Seneca Nation, as they commemorate the gathering with special living history presentations.

In October 1776, Jasper Yeates, a Pennsylvania lawyer appointed by the Continental Congress as a commissioner for Indian affairs, traveled to Fort Pitt to work alongside George Morgan, the Continental Congress’s Indian agent at Fort Pitt, and other commissioners. Together, they met with representatives of Native nations in the Ohio Country as American officials sought neutrality during the growing Revolutionary War.

Experience this moment in history with living history vignettes and musket and rifle demonstrations at 1, 2, and 3 p.m. on the Fort Pitt Museum lawn, weather permitting.
