Meadowcroft Atlatl Competition
Test your aim and step back in time at Meadowcroft’s annual Atlatl Competition.
One of humankind’s earliest mechanical inventions, the atlatl (pronounced “AT-lat-ull”) is a spear-throwing device used by prehistoric hunters long before the invention of the bow and arrow. This ingenious tool allowed the region’s earliest hunters to launch spears with speed and precision.
Whether you’re a first-time thrower or a seasoned atlatlist, you’ll have the chance to aim for oversized bullseye targets and compete for the highest score in this friendly, all-skill-level competition.
Plus, don’t miss the chance to see expert throwers from the World Atlatl Association demonstrate their impressive skills in action.
Admission
Access to the Atlatl Competition is included with Meadowcroft admission. This fun and educational program is appropriate for all ages! Advance registration is encouraged, but tickets will also be sold at the admissions desk in the Barensfeld Center.
