This event is now cancelled.  Teachers are invited to join History Center educators for a professional development workshop on the Green Book.

Presented in partnership with the Smithsonian Institution Traveling Exhibition Service (SITES) and award-winning author Candacy Taylor, The Negro Motorist Green Book exhibition, currently on view at the History Center, offers an immersive look at how the annual Green Book guide helped African Americans travel the country safely, and with dignity, during the era of segregation.

Learn how you can incorporate this important 20th century American history into your curriculum through artifacts and primary sources within the exhibit and the History Center’s collection during this special professional development workshop on July 15.

The program is open to all educators and satisfies Pennsylvania’s Act 48 ongoing professional development requirements. Participants will leave with curriculum resources and ideas to connect their teaching to the Heinz History Center’s and Smithsonian resources.

Admission

Space is limited, please register before July 8 at 5 p.m. Act 48 credits will be provided for an additional fee of $7 per person. Light refreshments will be provided.
