Join Dr. Gina Paige, co-founder of African Ancestry, as she delves into the importance of finding your African roots at our annual African American Genealogy Workshop lecture.

Dr. Paige will reveal results of recent DNA tests and explain how cutting-edge technology can help people trace their ancestry back to a specific present-day African country. She will present new information on the ancestry of participating panelists at the lecture, looking into their ancestral histories, familial connections, and African lineage.

“Knowing where you are from is key to knowing who you are,” is one of African Ancestry’s key messages and this lecture will highlight how tracing your ancestry back can provide valuable insights into your identity.

As co-founder of African Ancestry, Dr. Paige has pioneered a new way of tracing African lineages using genetics, and a new marketplace for people of African descent looking to more accurately and reliably trace their roots. Paige travels the world helping people demystify their roots, informing them about identities so that they may better understand who they are by knowing where they’re from.

Paige has worked with and revealed the roots of some of the worlds’ leading icons and entities including Oprah Winfrey, John Legend, Chadwick Boseman, Spike Lee, Condoleezza Rice, and The King Family.

The African American Genealogy Workshop is presented in partnership with the Afro-American Historical and Genealogical Society of Pittsburgh. The workshop is supported by Highmark and Allegheny Health Network.

Admission

The program is $10 for History Center and Afro-American Historical and Genealogical Society members and $20 for non-members. Admission includes access to Heinz History Center and Western Pennsylvania Sports Museum for Saturday, April 26.
