Fedeltà: Soldati. Prigionieri.” chronicles the experiences of Italian Prisoners of War (POWs), mostly captured in North Africa and Sicily, who were sent to Letterkenny Army Depot outside Chambersburg, Pa., during World War II. The film documents the POWs’ journey from war to peace and shows how their impact is still felt today.

Shot in both the United States and Italy, the documentary includes interviews with family members of the prisoners. It also utilizes original archival documents and footage from the families, the U.S. Army, and other sources associated with the Italian Service Units – Italian soldiers who renounced Fascism and agreed to collaborate with the United States after Italy’s surrender in 1943.

This program is co-sponsored by the University of Pittsburgh’s Italian Nationality Room Committee, which is a part of the University of Pittsburgh’s Nationality Rooms and Intercultural Exchange Programs (NRIEP). To learn more about the Italian Room, please contact [email protected].

Admission

This in-person screening is free with advance registration.

Please note, the film will be presented in both English and Italian, with Italian subtitles for the English dialogue and English subtitles for the Italian dialogue.
