Enjoy a taste of the ‘Burgh at the Heinz History Center’s tenth annual Hometown-Homegrown™ food festival, presented in partnership with GoodTaste! Pittsburgh®! 

More than 40 local food and drink vendors will be on site to share delicious (and FREE!) samples of their tastiest food and drinks, from long-time Pittsburgh staples like Isaly’s and Wholey’s to emerging local businesses such as Oakmont Olive Oil and Tug Butter.

Watch live cooking demonstrations from local culinary personalities in our kitchen classroom, try tasty bites from the region’s finest purveyors and eateries, learn more about Western Pennsylvania’s culinary history, and enjoy family-friendly activities throughout our six-floors of exhibitions.

From savory to sweet, there is something for everyone at the tastiest food expo in ‘tahn!


Food Festival Featuring 40+ Local Vendors (fifth floor)

10 a.m. to 3 p.m. – Sample tasty bites from the region’s finest purveyors and eateries, purchase take-home treats, and support local businesses!

Live Cooking Demonstrations in Weisbrod Kitchen Classroom (third floor)

Doors open for each cooking demonstration approximately 15 minutes prior to start time. Visitors will be admitted on a first come first serve basis until the room reaches capacity.

10:30 a.m. – Chris Fennimore, QED Cooks: Mister Rogers’ favorite banana bread

Noon – Chef Alekka Sweeney: Pie-making 101

1:30 p.m. – Wholey’s Market: Homemade crab cakes

Artisan Talks and Demonstrations (third floor)

11:30 a.m. – Spice Up Your Spice Cabinet with KizzleFoods

12:30 p.m. – From Hive to Honey with Honey So Good Apiary


The Hometown-Homegrown™ event (including food samples and activities) is included with regular History Center admission and is free for History Center members. Join as a member today! Admission includes access to all History Center exhibitions.

All kids ages 17 and under receive FREE admission to Hometown-Homegrown, thanks to support from community partners UPMC and UPMC Health Plan.
