Journey back in time for living history on the museum lawn. 

Discover the historic tribes that once called Pittsburgh home and learn how they lived during the 18th century during Living History Weekend. The Fort Pitt Museum will welcome Shideezhi Emarthla, a citizen of the Seneca-Cayuga Nation, to discuss the interactions between the historic tribes based in Western Pa. and lead a cooking demonstration.

In addition to Living History demonstrations, visitors are invited to explore the museum and learn about Western Pennsylvania’s pivotal role during the French & Indian War and how The Point became the birthplace of Pittsburgh. The museum will have on display their most recent exhibition Guyasuta: The Life and Legend of a Seneca Chief through Sept. 4. The exhibit reveals the story of an Indian leader’s allyship with George Washington just before the French & Indian War began.

Admission

Admission to the outdoor American Indian Living History Weekend is free, but regular admission applies to enter the Fort Pitt Museum and access its exhibitions.
