Test your atlatl skills at Meadowcroft’s annual competition.

Learn an ancient skill and play a prehistoric game of darts at Meadowcroft’s annual Atlatl Competition.

One of humankind’s earliest mechanical inventions, an atlatl (pronounced “AT-lat-ull”) is a spear-throwing stick used by the region’s earliest hunters as a predecessor to the bow-and-arrow.

Beginners and experienced throwers alike can aim for large bullseye targets to compete for highest score in this friendly competition.

Watch atlatlists from the World Atlatl Association compete and showcase their skills.

Admission

Access to the Atlatl Competition is included with Meadowcroft admission. This fun and educational program is appropriate for all ages! Advance registration is encouraged, but tickets will also be sold at the Visitor Center.
