Remembering World War II: Italian American Stories

Join the Italian American Program for a virtual conversation with oral historians Gianluca Cinelli and Patrizia Piredda, creators of the Memo-AmIt oral history project.

Memo-AmIt explores how the legacy of World War II has shaped the memories, identities, and family stories of Italian Americans across generations. Through recorded interviews with Italian Americans, including Western Pennsylvanians, the project examines how wartime experiences have influenced cultural identity, family narratives, and perceptions of Italy since 1945.

Developed as part of the international MemoGen research initiative, Memo-AmIt brings together voices from both sides of the Atlantic to better understand how history is remembered, shared, and passed down through families.
